Scope of Works : Fieldway are delivering fire stopping, compartmentation works and fire door upgrades to a number of buildings across the Leeds Beckett University campus, including the Calverley and Portland Buildings. Our FIRAS accredited Fire Stoppers survey the properties in detail, developing reports that highlight breaches in compliance and issuing corresponding recommendations for remedial action and equipment or materials.
Completion reports with before and after photographs demonstrate our dedication to compliance and high-quality works, providing evidence of surveyed breaches restored in line with regulatory standards of practice.
Working within a live university environment presented unique logistical and operational challenges, particularly with regard to minimising disruption for students, staff, and scheduled academic activity. Fieldway implemented a phased delivery programme, carefully coordinating with university facilities teams and contract appointed representatives to carry out works during quieter periods, including weekends and term breaks wherever possible. This flexible scheduling ensured continuity of service within the buildings and maintained a safe environment for all occupants.
With many university properties built or upgraded in the 20th century, it was essential to conduct asbestos surveys at both properties as part of our pre-start preparation period. No asbestos was present at either site, allowing works to begin without delay. Had AMCs been found, our operatives are trained and accredited with UKATA Asbestos Awareness; they can identify and remove certain types of asbestos where present and are qualified to ascertain the appropriate categories that require licenced asbestos professionals.
