Wakefield and District Housing

Client : Wakefield and District Housing

Sector : Social Housing

Service : Passive fire

Location : Wakefield

Scope of Works : In 2024, Fieldway were awarded the prestigious contract to supply and fit approximately 200 fire door sets for Wakefield District & Housing (WDH). Working within social housing properties across Wakefield in the North West of England, the types of doors we installed included both internal and external flat-entrance doors:

  • Glazed doors
  • Door set with side light
  • Door set with fan light
  • Store room doors

Efficient Resourcing

To account for the varying volumes of work at any one time throughout the programme, we scaled our operative resource up and down as and when necessary – this ensured we had the labour required throughout delivery, without excess or additional costs exceeding budgetary requirements.

With two joiners per composite flat-entrance door Fieldway delivered an average of 30 fire door installations a week – at times exceeding the established programme and managing installations well within 6 months from the door’s FRA dates.

Achieving Access

Working across tenanted social housing properties, we adapted a customer focused approach designed to increase access rates and develop trust between tenants and our on-site teams – to enable a successful delivery with minimal disruption for everyone involved.

Using flexible, tenant-led appointments that worked around their commitments and lifestyle requirements, we consistently achieved high rates of access throughout delivery. We issued letters and emails 28-days before appointments; with 7-day, 24-hour and day-of reminder calls to ensure tenants were aware of when we would be arriving at their property.

The dedicated Works Coordinator for this contract utilised mobile contacts to issue SMS updates and reminders to tenants as an additional measure.
