Flintshire County Council

Client : Flintshire County Council

Sector : Public

Service : Lighting Upgrades

Location : Flintshire

In 2021, Fieldway began working on a contract to upgrade the lighting fittings to three Care Homes across Flintshire with the objective of replacing the current fittings with a more energy efficient solution. These were Deeside Enterprise Centre, Llys Gwynfedd Day Centre and Marleyfield Care Home. We partnered with Dextra to put together a solution in line with Flintshire’s requirements. The work was financed through Salix funding so we followed the Dextra design carefully to ensure we could provide energy savings to Flintshire.

To ensure we delivered the works in time we ran the three sites concurrently, overlapping where appropriate. Each site was designated a SSSTS Site supervisor and overseen by Project Manager Mike Allen.

Contracts Controller Lorren Donnachie worked with Mike to analyse individual site requirements and allocate the correct site resource. All operatives were qualified to NICEIC 18th editions, and had previous experience working within a care based environment around vulnerable individuals. They were all double vaccinated in line with COVID guidance for working in care homes. Operatives were allocated to each site based on the specified work streams detailed within each site project specification and our in-depth site surveys carried out during mobilisation.

Site based teams worked alongside each other wherever possible to minimise any system downtime, and minimise our time on site reducing disruption to the residents and staff. We also liaised with scheme managers and other contractors on site to coordinate work and minimise disruption. Site resources were reviewed on a daily basis against progress and increased where necessary to meet the timescales.
