In July 2021, Fieldway were awarded a contract by Liverpool City Council to undertake a variety of passive fire safety works at Clifford Holroyde College. The project was completed in the summer holidays and included the installation of FD30 fire doors, compartmentation works to multiple loft hatches and fire stopping using intumescent sealant throughout the college.
As the college catered for special needs children, we worked closely with the client to tailor the solution appropriately. For safety reasons and to prevent injury we fitted free-swinging fire door closers that automatically shut when the fire alarm sounds.
To ensure the works were completed within the specified timeframes, we allocated a team of four fire stoppers and two joiners. They were overseen by our Passive Fire Manager who ensured all work adhered to FIRAS standards. To ascertain the requirements of the contract, they undertook a detailed survey of the college. Using RiskBase and the information gathered, an accurate quote was built up using the SOR’s agreed at tender stage.
Once we finished the project, we sent the client a comprehensive O&M manual for the site as evidence the work was completed. Our O&M manuals provide all the necessary information to demonstrate completion including before and after photos, RAMS and FIRAS certification.
All works were completed within budget, in time for the start of the school term and adhered to all areas stipulated in the tender documentation.
