Following an independent FRA survey and tender process, we were successfully awarded the contract to replace 35 doors with FD30 fire door sets and carry out remedial compartmentation works within a nurses and doctors accommodation unit at Pinderfields General Hospital.
The entry doors to each individual dwelling did not meet current standards and required upgrading to FD30 fire door sets. From the survey we also identified that the fanlight above the doors was required to be removed, filled in and decorated.
From our initial survey we also discovered that the floors were not level for each doorframe. To overcome this issue we worked with the client to establish and confirm the use of a floor levelling compound to eliminate any gaps below the door set foot piece.
The walls also came past the installed architrave which meant that some damage to the wall would have to be incurred to remove the door frames in-situ. We explained this to the client at survey stage and that the new architrave would cover the damage. Our operatives managed to remove the frames with only minor remedial works being required which were incorporated into the plaster work of the fanlights.
The works were required to be delivered in a set period of four weeks. Due to the site being operational we ensured that within our project plan we included regular progress meetings and inspections. This kept the client informed on a regular basis as to the progress of works and when they could release the completed rooms for occupancy on completion.
