Service : Fire Door Upgrades
Location: Bolton

Following a competitive tender process through the Fusion21 framework, Fieldway were awarded a three-year contract to undertake fire door repairs and upgrades across the University of Bolton Campus.

The University of Bolton is a modern university with a distinguished history and has a long and proud heritage that goes back to 1825. The University has a teaching intensive, research informed curriculum covering health, creative technologies, engineering, arts, and education. With approximately 9,900 students and a partner network of 40 institutions around the world, the University is rated as silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework for Higher Education.

On award of the contract, we went to site to verify the fire door surveys and undertake detailed measurements to ensure the door sets were suitable for all areas. We reviewed all doors across the specified campus buildings and provided bespoke recommendations to ensure appropriate works were to be carried out to provide complete fire safety compliance. Recommendations include full fire door set replacements, frame adjustments, new intumescent seals, new closers and new lcoksets.

As works are being completed in a live university environment, we work with the Facilities Manager to coordinate works around academic schedules, events and other activities to minimise disruption. We ensure wherever we are working throughout the university we clearly mark and segregate work areas and establish alterative access and egress routes for all stakeholders.
