Client : Great Places Housing Group
Sector : Social Housing
Service : Fire Alarm Install
Location : Stockport, Buxton
In June 2021, Fieldway were awarded the contract to design and install fire alarm systems at three sheltered schemes for Great Places across the UK worth over £150k. We upgraded the fire alarm with a Protec 6000 series system.
Three engineers were allocated to the works, completing each site one after the other. To ensure timely delivery against a restricted deadline, we utilised our directly employed, locally based workforce. The works were overseen by Project Manager Mike Allen who was responsible for managing risk and guaranteeing timely delivery.
The schemes housed multiple vulnerable residents so during mobilisation we ensured we set up the necessary provisions for working in individual dwellings. We worked closely with carers and scheme managers to ensure this was arranged prior to starting on site. Another risk we identified at an early stage was the presence of asbestos on one of the sites. At tender stage we engaged with a contractor to remove the asbestos, so on award this was take care of. Additionally, each site had other contractors completing work at the same time as us. We established communication early with these organisations, working flexibly around them to guarantee timescale adherence.
